Selling a fantastic roasted maple P Bass neck from Warmoth. I love everything about their roasted maple necks except for the neck profile. It's a bit larger than I like. The neck is unfinished as it's not required and feels great. Included are hipshot ultra-lite tuners, D-tuner and 3 string retainer. All for the price of $250. This is a great upgrade to any P or J bass. Condition is excellent.
More details below:
Roasted Maple (also known as Baked, Caramelized, or Torrified Maple) is maple that has been heat treated in a specialized vacuum oven to remove sugars, moisture, and other impurities. Lumber that has undergone this process is more stable, has increased resistance to rotting and insects, and is slightly lighter than standard wood. The roasting process also turns the wood a beautiful caramel color, which is consistent throughout. Any new surfaces exposed through sanding or cutting will exhibit a similar color.
Maple has long been a popular among instrument builders. It is particularly well-suited for guitar necks because of its strength and bright tone. "Roasting" it provides some additional benefits. First, the warm color accentuates any grain figures that are present; Flame and Birdseye patterns become even more eye-popping. Second, the enhanced stability means a hard finish is not required, making it the maple of choice for guitarists who prefer the smooth, quick feel of natural wood. Another amazing benefit: newly worked Roasted Maple often smells like maple syrup!
