Make me an offer! After much deliberation I've decided to put my original Tune 5-string up for sale.

This is a Zi-III-5, which I purchased new from Rudy's Music or maybe Manny's in NYC circa 1990 or 1991. This was before the drama that split the Tune company into it's current Japanese and Korean entities--it was a 100% Japanese company back then.

The bass is a neck-through design with a 4-piece laminated maple neck, ebony fingerboard, and body made of mahogany sandwiched between two layers of walnut, all with an oil finish. It's an amazing sounding high-end bass, with a killer low B string. It's very light and despite it's 24-fret neck it's also very compact, which is a major plus on tight stages. It has the original 18-volt active preamp and original pickups currently installed; I have experimented with different pickups over the years: a set of Bartolinis and a Duncan SJB-5 bridge pickup, all of which I will include in the sale. It also has countersunk Dunlop strap locks (original to the bass), which make for a nice clean look. It has a really low action and plays very well. Weight is 9.0 pounds using the bathroom scale method.

I'm only selling it because in the last couple years I've made a switch from playing almost all 5-strings to playing almost all 4-strings and this one isn't getting enough play time. I'd rather sell this one to someone who cares about these basses than let it sit.

As far as condition, it's got it's share of marks from over 26 years of playing. I've tried to highlight them in the pictures. Most noticeable is a ding on the top of the body from a gig many years ago in NJ--I think my guitarist spun around and whacked it, but honestly I don't quite remember the incident. I can say with authority that as the original owner, the bass has never been abused and sounds and plays as good or better than the day I bought it.

Comes with hardshell case.

Price includes shipping CONUS only. No trades unless it involves a Fender Marcus Miller or other 70's style Jazz.
