Details

$2400 2012 Roscoe Century 3006J. This beauty is called “The Red Devil” (see it in action with her first owner here and here). As basses go, this one is definitely a unique snowflake.
  • Alder Body with a maple top... and a Candy Apple Red finish. The pairing of maple and alder was for tonal purposes. The finish was for sexy.
  • Roscoe’s buttery three piece maple/purpleheart/maple neck with pau ferro fingerboard. 35 inch scale, 18mm spacing. One of the most comfy 6 strings I’ve had the privilege to play
  • Hipshot hardware
  • Bartolini hum cancelling jazz pickups in the 60’s positions
  • Bartolini 18 volt NTMB preamp
  • Ships in OHSC

Sounds like a quintessential jazz bass, only with 18 volts of hellfire behind it. Clear and even response across the full range of the instrument. The 18mm string spacing makes it equally comfortable for fingerstyle, chording, or slapping, without feeling too narrow or uncomfortably wide. The neck feels like greased lightning - there is something truly special about Roscoe’s necks. This one is amazing.

Just a note, that isn't a scratch on the second picture - just a fiber that my crappy eyes couldn't see but my phone did just fine... -_-

It's exactly perfect mm's wide... but I can get a numerical answer tomorrow. It's very comfortable, and I have middling sized hands.

I played this bass several years ago at a GTG here in GA and it is amazing.
Pictures do not do it justice.

There is no better feeling neck than a Roscoe, and the 6 string is amazing. I have the "poor man's" version of this bass, a Standard Plus with Bart jazz pups and preamp. The action is ridiculously low on mine (almost too low) and the sound is all jazz. I play it all the time. It plays "faster" than my Roscoe 5.

After years with soap bar pups (my Roscoe 5 has bart soaps) I find myself liking the "jazz" sound again. Back to where I started which was mostly bass basses. My 5 may be up for sale soon as I don't seem to grab it much any more.

If you want jazz tone on a playable 6 string, this is it. Add Roscoe quality and service (if needed) an you can't loose.

I've had two Roscoes, including this one, and the necks are absolutely insane. Insane. The action on this guy is super low and there is something about the feel of the finish that Keith uses on the neck that is second to none.

This is Jerry's old Roscoe. I swear I saw this one in person. Beautiful finish.

I have tried to find online but couldn't... what is the nut width?

I believe that the standard is 2.150" (54.61mm) and this one should be standard.

Got to love that CAR finish! It sure accents the carved top!

Whoops, I forgot to measure... but yeah, the nut width/spacing at the nut is standard. It's extremely comfortable and fast - probably the most comfortable six string I've played.

Yep. I've been playing my 6 over my 5 lately because the 6 sounds better and it seems to feel faster than my 5. Both Roscoe necks are fantastic, but the 6 is so easy to play compared to other 6er's I've tried.

You're gonna be blown away, Tim. Besides a stunning finish, she sounds absolutely amazing.
