After taking about year off of playing bass I saw this bass for sale for a good price and jumped on it. It's a great bass, it reminded me of the joy of playing, but after so much time off I need to work on the basics. That means, I'm sticking to a passive 4 string for now and working on my timing and feel.

This is a US made neck-through Carvin with humbucking jazz pickups and a two-band Carvin preamp. I'm not sure of the woods, but I'm just going to guess maple and alder with an ebony fretboard. The neck is straight with credit cards thickness of relief and it plays and sounds great! I especially like favouring the neck pickup and getting a really round, punchy tone. The B-string is excellent and I would put it up there with any 34"scale bass. The build quality is also very, very good with Sperzel locking tuners and a Wilkinson bridge. It was originally a fretless, so the frets are on the fret markers. I put dots on with white out, which can be very easily removed.

Condition: There is players wear and buckle rash on the body with a finish flaw on the lower horn. There are also marks/finish flaws on the sides of the fretboard from finishing the fret ends. It's currently set up at a little over 2mm at the 14th fret and there's no buzz except on the 15th fret of the A string. I don't have the truss-rod cover, but a nice exotic hardwood one on Etsy only runs $15. Overall, the bass is in good shape and a great deal for the money!

I know that money is tight for a lot of people right now, so I'm very open to trades, but I would prefer TBers with established feedback. Ideally I'm looking for a P-bass or an amp. Feel free to run things by me and I'll update with a more detailed trade list when I get a minute.

Price: $399 plus shipping in the original hard shell case.

Great bass. I had one from this era that was almost identical except for black parts and an oil finish neck. The pickups are the secret sauce of these basses. One recording engineer had me play half a dozen basses before settling on my LB76 to record a whole album on. Even he shook his head in disbelief at what bass I was playing but he loved the tone.
