2004 Montezuma Brown 4003VP in mint condition. "VP" you ask? VP stands for "vintage pickup" and that means it comes from the factory with the reissued Toaster-Top pickup in the bass (neck) position. This bass is featured on page 67 of the book and appears just as it did when I photographed it. No nicks in the finish and has only a few dozen hours of play time. Montezuma Brown (MB) varied quite a bit, and this one is one of the lighter ones. I think it looks like strong ice tea.
The bass is in perfect working order, but please don't ask me what it sounds like. To me, it sounds like a Rick bass. To you, it may sound gnarly, mellow, boomy, loud, weak - - it's all subjective. Anyway, its a fine specimen and a known quantity. Comes with a typical Rick hardshell case, which may have a collapsed metal foot or detached restraining strap.
I'm asking $1500 plus shipping. I will ship overseas at cost, but understand that can be several hundred dollars. Yes, you might be able get a brand new Rick for a lower price. No, you can't get this gorgeous Montezuma Brown with a Toaster for a lower price.
