Thanks for asking and the bump, this is a unique bass. In September of 1981 I ordered a Smith IIG Artist model from Ken in New York at his place on 13th St. At that time Vinnie worked at Ken's shop in Brooklyn. After the bass was completed by Ken I sent it to Ron at Alembic. The electronics are the same that I had in my short scale Alembic, I think now they are called series one electronics.

mind blowing collection ... what year is the fretless smith, string spacing and wood combination? is she a full NT or NT + back laminate?

oh my, never seen a neckthrough roscoe, and with Spetzel tuners, my favorite!......do you know the year it was made?....also, can't recognize the body type, which determines the model name, could you please specify?

I never have seen a neck-through Roscoe either. This is a unique bass unfortunately I do not know the year and model number.

Hello, I'm here to help. :bassist:

;)

What you have here is an SKB 5006 model, it would have been made in about 1995-6, there are only about 6 of these in existence.

The full details are a bit sketchy, as records from before about 2000 or so are pretty much non-existent, but we have had a few come through for repairs and updates, and I seem to recall this one having been here sometime in the past 10 years or so. Good instruments, everyone has played and sounded fantastic - we just didn't build many because of the combination of difficulty and lack of market interest in them.

If there's anything else I can do to help with info on this, let me know and I'll be happy to do what I can.
