I've now tried all three of Curtis Novak's main P-bass offerings, and liked this one (PB-V) the best. It has a really nice, natural P tone that is very responsive to right hand dynamics/technique. Sounds great with a pick or finger style. Leads were always (de)soldered, never cut.
Precision Bass Replacement Pickup
If you want it I'll throw in a Fender plastic pickup cover... I had to drill out the pole piece holes a little larger to fit a previous pickup, so it's not pretty, but it does the job. The generic/All-parts cover I bought from Curtis did not fit my Fender Hwy 1 pickguard! So this cover is pretty much "guaranteed*" hassle free for Fender installation. Otherwise the pickup will ship bare just as I received it from Curtis Novak.
