I've been using the Troll mic for QUITE a while now, maybe almost 5 years. Brandon who makes them has been wonderful to deal with, and replaced mine about 2 years ago in order to deal with a rattle - so this mic is 2 years old, and has been on and off my bass since then. While I loved it on my previous bass, my current bass doesn't seem to like it, and I've just been using it less and less, so its time to sell and try something new! I've got the original cardboard shipping tube, extra hairties (for mounting), a plastic cable tie for attaching it to the bass, and a velcro cable to cut down on resonance with the mic cable.
I know that many people use these with a fethead boost, but gain hasn't been an issue for me. I will also say that I've NEVER experienced ambient feedback with this mic through an amp, it only screams if you point the bass at the amp PLUS the figure 8 pattern is really nice for drummer rejection
