this a Fender '62 vintage reissue jazz bass made in the U.S.A. in 1982.
1982 was the 1st year that Fender launched the vintage reissue series - so...
this is one of the 1st basses of it's kind!
... and theses early versions were manufactured at the original, legendary Fender Factory in Fullerton, CA.- which closed it's doors in 1985.
features rosewood slab board, reverse gears, dual concentric pots, nitro-laquer finish (though i am told that fender did nitro over poly back then or poly over nitro ?? … not 100% sure about that)
the bass includes the 2 chrome pickup covers.
i have replaced the original pickguard with a custom made guard made by pickguardian, which is more faithful to the look of that era.
the original pickguard is a bit ugly, with a lot of harsh bright yellow highlights in it.
though i will include this original guard (pictured hand held in one of the photos).
also, the original pickups were a bit weak (around 6.8k) so i have upgraded the bass with new pickups made by Tom Brantley Rewinds. the output on these are around 8.1k for the neck p.u. & 8.4 for the bridge p.u. (for those that dont know, Tom Brantley was Lindy Fralin's right hand man for years and built many of Lindy's pickups.) i will include the original pickups of course. (pictured)
