Up for sale is my 1978 P Bass.
I purchased it in a consignment sale from a local music store in the mid 2000s. The bass came into my hands with the finish sanded down to the Fullerplast and was wearing a black pickguard. The neck looked to have been refinished at that time and is cosmetically in the same condition it was when I bought it. The electronics had been modded as well, as the bass came with a SD Quarter Pounder.
I used it with that configuration for a couple years with a rock cover band. Strung up with rounds it had the snarl I was looking for to punch through the mix.
Fast forward a few years and I decided to give her a little TLC. The bass was refinished and nitroed to the white you see in the photos by Chuck Kuzminski, a great guitar tech serving the Delaware area. I added the tort guard at that time as well. I bought and installed a Nordstrand NP4V as well as a vintage correct wiring kit. The inside of the bass has been shielded as well.
Currently the bass is wearing a set of TI flats and has worked well with this configuration with an original blues band I worked with for the last couple years.
This is a players grade bass - she's gotten a little bit of love over the years and I've tried to capture as much wear as I could in the photos. The instrument is 100% fully functional and plays very comfortably with the light tension of the TIs and a fairly low action.
Specs - 10.5 lbs, 1 5/8" nut width.
As far as what parts are original and what's not - I am certain that the neck, neck-plate, body and tuners are original. The rest of the hardware - pickup/electronics, bridge, knobs - have been replaced. I will include the black pickguard that came with the bass - it may be original but I can't verify that.
