I got this 1981 Rickenbacker 4001 bass in on a trade and it's just not the sound for me. I always loved the way they look, but not the sound. I have all the original parts in the case (pickup chrome bridge cover plate, 4001 bridge, 1981 white pickguard, mutes). The original pickguard has a crack from the neck position adjuster screw at the top to the top of the pickguard, its less than 1 inch long. The bass Plays great but just not my sound, comes with original hardshell case.
Looking over the bass,
Body top- clean few extremely small dings
Body back- very little belt markings, some visible but no eye soars
Finish- starting show some aging with hair line checking headstock and a few marks on top of the body and back of the body and lower neck all are hard to see until you adjust the bass just right in the light.
Frets- no dips, great condition
Binding- great condition, no cracks
Tuners- some tarnishing but very good condition
Bridge & Pickup chrome- great condition
Case- really good/great condition
Trade interest:
Fender Jazz Bass "no boat anchors"
Fender Precision
run something buy me, looking for a fair trade. I am not intetested in adding money to trade up.
