For sale is a MK Dragonfly 5 amber quilt top.
Michael Kelly no longer makes amber quilt top basses (only the black smoke burst). Thus, this is a fairly rare bass.
I bought this quite a few years ago for some acoustic sets our band was doing and it has not been used much since.
I purchased it used and it appears to be a 2005 from the serial number.
As you can see from the pictures it is in really good shape and sounds great
There is some minor scraping and scuffing on the bridge from changing the strings as one of the pins was really stuck and had to be "forced out". Along the way, the pin broke. I was able to obtain a new factory Pin and it now is not an issue.
As you can see, these basses are truly a piece of art.
The Abalone details are amazing and the quilt is exceptional on this one. The entire bass has a significant amount of quilting detail, but as you can see, the back is really great!
I currently have it strung with Chromes which I like much better than the original brass strings.
It has the original Fishman electronics and comes with a Planet Wave sound hole cover and a TKL hard shell case. The case has a few minor nicks but is very solid.
I will also throw in a set of D'Addario humidifier packs which I purchased recently. They can be recharged over and over in order to keep the bass at the perfect humidity level.
I have heard these are somewhat expensive to ship due to the thickness of the case. The asking price includes up to $50 shipping. The remainder will be paid by the buyer.
Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Please PM me with any questions or to make me an offer.
PEACE and thanks for looking!
Doug
