How would you characterize the sound of these?

These basses sound incredible. The preamps are very efficient and thick rich lowend. They are a hidden gem for sure. Top shelf finish and fit with slim comfortable necks. I would say it is comparable to the Lakland 44-02 double Bucker tone.

I bought one in the UK four weeks ago. I'm only a beginner, but this is a much, much, better bass than I need, and I got it at a good price.
Very easy to play, you can make it sound pretty much as you like warm and fat or thinner or growly. The only downsides are: the strings ring on forever if you can't mute properly ( which is good if you can play, but shows up my bad technique), and other people playing it and saying "Lovely tone, that's a superb instrument. How much??"

I just picked up a Brawley Artemis on Craigslist ($175 w/ OHSC). In great shape, and looks like the original strings. Any suggestions for a new set of strings ?
