Here's my 2nd favorite P bass ever (and IMHO the best Fender made P bass I've played). It's a NOS 2014 Limited Edition American Special Sandblasted P bass that, aside from the playing marks and scratches on the pickguard, could pass for brand new. It's never been gigged or even left my smoke free house and has less than 10 hours of playing time (plus whatever time it was played at the guitar shop where I bought it new). I also have a new white pickguard for it if the buyer is interested. Personally, I think it looks better with the white guard.
It weighs in at 7lbs 15 oz, balances nicely on a strap and has one of the nicest P bass necks I've ever played. Nut width is 1.65", but the neck is not at all chunky and has a nice low drag satin finish. There is no discernible fret wear at all. It's had flats or pressure wound strings on it until just recently when I put a new set of DR Pure Blues strings on it. The stock electronics work perfectly and have that classic P bass tone. The pots appear to be CTS made and are smooth and quiet. It comes in a new Fender gig bag with all the case candy still sealed in it's plastic bag and will ship safely packed in a new double layer instrument shipping box. I'm a fanatic about careful packing.
Depending on which story you believe, there were only 25 P basses in this color available in the US or there were only 150 total made in this color, or if they exported 125 of them, both could be true. In any case it's an unusual bass, but also a very good one. Now, if you're like me, you're thinking "If it's so great why is he selling it?". Well, I'm selling it because I've got 2 other P basses, one not worth selling and the other is my dream P bass. I'd like to have an early '50's style P bass, so this one is up for sale to help fund building or buying one.
The price is $950 shipped to continental US. Shipping to other North American locations can be negotiated. Payment preferred by USPS Money Order, but Paypal is acceptable. I'd prefer a straight sale and don't have any trades in mind, but I'm selling it to build or buy a '53-'56 style P bass, so anything that would get me closer to that goal would be interesting. I might also be tempted by a nice 5 string that weighs 8 lbs or less, has 16.5-18mm string spacing and 34" or less scale length.
