The venerable Manley Tube DI. This thing is easily the best recording DI I've used for upright or electric bass (and I've used many). There are not too many of these Manleys floating around, so it's hard to find much about them. Smooth, deep, very clean low end - not all all "hairy" or agressive. It's a very clean, warm sound, but not flabby. The switch is essentially a High-pass filter for controlling the bottom, but it also changes the input impedance between 10Meg and 1Meg, depending on the settings (good for acoustic use). I've found the HPF to be invaluable for upright bass and electric guitars. Info from Manley can be found here: Manley Tube Direct Mono & Dual Mono DI's
The old Basstasters site had some good examples, and you can compare to many of the other well-known DIs out there. basstasters.com || welcome
I'm super reluctant to let this one go, but I need to get some other gear for doubling. Asking $425 shipped CONUS. Paypal ok.
