Features that make an experienced Lakland user question US authenticity: lack of a headstock logo, flat sawn neck.
Features that assure it is a US instrument: Birds eye maple fretboard markers, the pearl white finish, bone nut, and the original owners testimony.
I contacted Lakland and they admitted that they don’t have records from 2000, but agreed that it was a US Lakland.
Having said all of this, the price reflects the fact that it may appear questionable and is more in line with a Skyline HoBo with a fitted Lakland HSC and DarkStar Pickups. In my mind, this is a US Lakland well worth a $2000+ price tag.
The instrument is in the same condition I received it in. If you know anything about Lakland basses, you know they play and sound amazing. When you add the Fred Hammond Darkstar pickups, it’s a tone monster!
The front switch is pickup select (front/both/rear), the knobs are volume and tone (for each pickup), and the rear switch isn’t connected to anything (leftover from the bart system). 34” scale.
Why am I selling? I’ve had a major car bill that was out of the blue and I want to recoup some of the hit my savings took. I can’t let instruments get in the way of that priority.
