Details

Hello there talkbass brethren. This bass sounds tremendous. I used it to record a few things with my old band and it has lived in its case ever since.

@slap2much has an excellent account of the bass, hopefully he approves me linking this thread.

SOLD - Westone Genesis XA6520 Matsumoku Limited Anniversary Edition - 24 Fret P/HB

$325 shipped in a funky old case, conus only please.

Looking for some fun pedals as trade bait. Bass Wah, Envelope Filter, Octave, nice distortion pedals, simple to use compressors, etc...

In the 7th pic, are those chips on the neck? What are the materials used in the bass?

Yep, but they feel pretty smooth. The big looking one is a finish chip about the size of a pencil eraser head around. The other marks look like songs from cymbals, not through the finish.

3 piece maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, body is Poplar.

I’ve had the bass for a while now but probably only have about 20 hours on it. Someone really put some good honest age on this one. I’m 3 years older than this bass and I’m in a lot worse shape!

Pretty sure that case used to be mine! The Omni Guardian I had (with the Lycos sticker — I worked there) was for a Westone Spectrum GT!

Is the "funky old case" original to the bass? Pics?

Hey, what do ya know! The case couldn’t really fit the bass any better. I figured it was a generic, hence funky. There is no smell to it, the Tolex and interior are in great shape as well. One latch likes to stick a bit.

i see one of the previous owners swapped out the body, was wondering since this was an '87 model and the plate on the back doesn't jibe with the year and model and the date seems to be Nov 1970?? i'm very interested, just curious about this.

Why would you think it is from the 1970?
Here's another bass with a similar serial number. Genesis XA6520

Frets are in good shape. I didn’t re-string the bass after I received it. I intended to, but the strings it is wearing sounded awesome. I would guess them to be Superbrights.

It would sport a set of chromes like a champ. Probably would need a bit of a truss rod tweak from my experience with Chromes tension.
