Beautiful looking and playing Dingwall Super PJ5 with natural matte finish. This bass started out as a passive P, but I had a Nordstrand Big Split and Nordstrand 3B preamp installed by Mo at Nordstrand. Their are tons of tonal options here with the addition of the Big Split in the bridge position and preamp, in addition to the already killer sound you have when running in passive. I find the sweet spot is with the split coil at 100% and about 60%-70% of the bridge mixed in, but that's just my ears. Weight is 8 lbs (-/+ a couple ozs.). Bass is in excellent shape and feels great. The only slight blemish would be some slight swirling on the pickguard from playing, which I've tried to capture in the photos. This bass comes with a Dingwall gig bag.
When I decided to add the bridge pickup and preamp, my goal was to create a "Swiss-Army knife" bass (something that would cover a wide range of tones). While I was successful in this endeavor, I'm finding that I just really prefer the simplicity of passive basses and keep going back to my 4 string Precision.
This would be a great bass for someone who's curious about Dingwalls, or someone who just wants a solid, great sounding and feeling 5 string.
