SOLD - Lakland 55-01 - PLEK'D, Nordstrand Big Splits and Aguilar OBP-3 Looking for Tobias GrowlerI have 3 Lakland 55s and this is the one that is getting thinned out as the others were new when I bought them recenly, and I bought them specifically for their color (see pic). I have 9 basses and need to get this down to a more reasonable 8. I mainly use 4 stringers, so two 5 stringers is plenty for me.
This is my most all around bass, no other bass of mine is as well made and plays so great and sounds so great as this one. Some of my most magical live moments have been on this bass to be sure. This is in great shape, only the lightest play seen on the usual spots on body where thumbs rest or picks go, no dents or anything to note. The neck is just fine and the frets are good.
NOTE: I have painted some dots on the side of the neck for me to see playing live and in the dark so to not get lost of where I am playing. I do that on all my basses and nobody has ever complained on a sale.
It has been mainly sitting in the closet as a spare and I have only played it a few times when I bring it out to prove how good it is to myself. The superior (talked about here on TB), Korean craftsmanship, can definitely be felt.
The tone with the Nordstrand Big Splits and Aguilar OP3 - 3 Band Pre-Amp is off the chart. Old School to modern sound, full 3D warmth, with much growl and just bad ass balls when you want it.
If you want the most bass you can get in this price range, I am confident this is it. 900 for one of these new, and you would have to put another what, 350 at least to get these upgrades, already done for you.
