Bump for an amazing sounding preamp/DI. If you're thinking about a Noble or REDDI you owe it to yourself to check this out.

very interested (if it hangs around for more than 5 min)
whats the sonic footprint of this DI preamp ?

I have been looking hard at Arkham Zephyr, Noble and Broughton P15 pre's for their "B15-ish" preamp qualities .. and solid DI sections.
Where does the SF 2di4 fall tonally compared to these others ?

on edit: I have gone back and read some older (2015-17) discussions about the 2di4. Seems like it is compared more to the Kern's and Demeter 201's than Noble or Arkham Zephyr pre's ... so I'm reading that to mean more clean/subtle tube flavors.

I don't think you can do better as far as a DI goes. With the Arkham, Noble etc you have tone shaping capabilities. (Caveat, I'm braising it on feedback from players and engineer I respect.)

I'll take a swing at this as a regular user of a 2di4 and Arkham Abyss. The 2di4 is more akin to a very warm mic preamplifier, whereas the Arkham sounds much more like a "bass amp", in a great way. I like the transparency and warm quickness of the 2di4, but the weight and envelope of the Arkham.... So I use both. :)

thanks.

based on some other reading, I think I am more in the market for a pre with more tone shaping options than the 2di4.

it has pretty limited tone shaping, obviously. However, I find that its so darn close to perfect every time that I rarely need more EQ than my bass will provide. I have some eq in my pedalboard, but the native tone of the 2di4 is pretty incredible. Its worth trying out for sure, you may be surprised. :)

Awesome preamp. My bass sounds SO good through it. So does my J45. I imagine it would impart the secret sauce on just about any signal. I read someone calling this box the truth. I’d have to agree!
