2008 Korean Lakland 55-01 in gorgeous condition. Nordstrand 3B preamp with copper foil shielding. Delano SBC Quad Coil hum-cancelling pickups. Curt Mangan nickel round-wound strings. Sadowsky-style metal knobs. Controls: Volume w/ push-pull active/passive, Bourns type M/N blend pot, bass/treble stack (boost/cut), mid frequency boost/cut, passive tone (works in active, too), mid frequency selector switch (400Hz or 1K) and three-way coil switching for each pickup - parallel, single coil and series. Bass weighs 9.4 pounds.
The passive tone of this bass is versatile and very satisfying! With EQ flat, the volume from passive to active stays the same. Active adds some clarity and, of course, gives many more tone-shaping options. The coil switching is something you always wanted but didn't know it. So many combinations are possible in both active and passive modes. My favorite is bridge-series and neck-parallel. Some tunes just want the single coil sound and the Delanos really deliver it. The passive tone control is very useful in active mode to provide some additional and very usable tone shaping.
As the photos show, the frets are in excellent condition. The neck is straight, stable and so nice to play. No nicks, dings or scratches. I've owned five 55-01's and it's true that a Korean model just feels better. The quality difference is tangible.
Absolutely no issues, this bass is a joy to play. I no longer need a five string and my Aerodyne fits what I'm doing now.
$1400+ invested. $875 shipped CONUS. For an additional $120 ($229 new), I will ship the bass in a Mono M80 gig bag which is in excellent condition.
