That finish crack is just from the maple and mahogany expanding and contracting at different rates. This is not too uncommon on Gibsons with their thin nitro finishes.

Also, you could use a good full frontal photo and a nice headstock shot with the Gibby logo in it.

I got it from GC, so no clue on its history unfortunately.
