Gorgeous G&L L2500 in Blackburst finish and wood-bound on the body. There is one indentation on the back of the neck the size of the head of an ink pen (shown in last pic).

Otherwise, it's in excellent condition ships in its OHSC with CoA, build spec sheet, tools, etc. There are some very light scratches/swirling that are difficult to capture in photos.

Weight is 10.1 lbs and this one has the K-Spec single coil mod (three position Series/Single Coil/Parallel toggle vs. two position Series/Parallel toggle found on most L2500s)!

Willing to trade up and add cash for a Fender Elite Jazz V or a Yamaha BBNE2...possibly other 5 string basses.

I see that you had both an L2500 and an M2500. The L2500 has some switches that are not on the M2500. What is the difference between the two? From your experience, how did they compare? Thanks!

Hi, I still have the M2500 for sale/trade in the classifieds. I traded this L2500 only because I had two L2500s.

The M2500 is active only and has the traditional 3-band EQ and pickup pan knob so you can have as much or as little output from each pickup as you like.

The L2500 is active/passive, but it only has a 2-band EQ for bass and treble. It has three sets of switches as you pointed out. One switch is passive mode/active mode/active with treble boost. One switch is for running the pickups in series (bass boost) or parallel (bass cut)...this is for standard L2500s. If the bass has the K-spec mod, there's also a third position to run the pickups in single-coil mode. The last switch is the pickup selector - bridge only/both/neck only.

They're both beasts, but IMO, you can't do a strict comparison of the two because they're almost like apples and oranges.

For instance, there's no control for mids on the L2500, but you can achieve a ton of different tones with all the switch options. Additionally, you can't blend the pickups to a custom setting like 75% neck, 25% bridge for instance; however, it's known as the Swiss Army knife of basses because of it's tonal possibilities.

You can custom blend the pickups on the M2500 and you can EQ your mids, but you can't go passive if you wanted to or needed to.

They're both known to be very aggressive, but the 3-band EQ on the M2500 makes it tamable and the combination of the 2-band EQ and switch options on the L2500 makes it tamable. I love them both.
