Simply, one of the best basses Ibanez has produced at their Fujigen factory. This particular one was made in 2009 by the "J-Craft" team. The body is made of mahogany sandwiched between figured wenge; the neck is wenge with bubinga stringers; and the wenge fretboard features abalone and pearl inlays. The tone is deep, rich, growly, but can be tailored to pretty much any tone you could want thanks to the custom-wound Bartolini dual-coil pickups and upgraded 4-band Mike Pope preamp (bass, lo-mid, hi-mid, treble, and passive tone control). Though the Gotoh hardware for this model is normally gold, this one has been "upgraded" with GB350 Res-O-Lite tuners and bridge saddles in "cosmo black." Other modifications include Kilo Intl. knobs (like those on a Sadowsky bass), a wenge ramp between the pickups, fully shielded pickup and control cavities, and a professionally-installed 9-volt battery box (since this bass originally came with the 3V PWC-III preamp). I also need to mention that the Ibanez logo was professionally sanded off, and that there is a small separation between a lamination in the neck at the butt-end (easily filled, just cosmetic...I'll even include the proper dark wood glue if you want). Notwithstanding, the condition is still about an 8/10 and is a joy to play with very low action.
