Details

This is a beautiful Jeffrey Ellis french style bow. Made of pernambuco, silver mounted, with a cow horn frog. This is a professional level bow ideal for orchestra. Jeffrey Ellis is a contemporary bow maker in Sydney, Australia; website [email protected] for more info on the craftsman. His bows generally start at $4,000 and he quoted making a new like this at $5,500. I have switched from french to german bow and am therefor not playing this masterwork bow as much as it deserves. It has a round stick and is on the heavy side at 143 grams with a large tip to balance the bow. Plays wonderfully!
Hair Length 21.25"
Bow Length 28"
Tip Length 2.25"
Weight 143 grams

i am not familiar with the maker, but it looks like a beautiful bow.

are there any advantages to the horn frog, or is that just cool for the sake of cool? i love it.

I am not sure if it has advantages or even the weight difference between a horn vs ebony frog. In my opinion it is cool for the sake of cool. It is a beautiful bow and plays just as good. Needs a new home to get played as much as it deserves.
