Whilst that bass is outside the UK my willpower is strong enough to resist temptation. I can understand how painful it must feel to be selling it.

Yes, it certainly is tough to sell it. But alas, I only play in my basement these days and I feel this instrument should see the light of day (or at least stage lighting!) once in a while.

Solid maple body? Or hippie sandwich? I found the solid maple tends to be too bright for me.

Interesting. Usually those basses will have a solid maple body with a different top which itself may be flame or quilt maple or some other contrasting non maple wood.
I have an Alembic Europa 5 which has the same body woods and neck construction as the bass for sale on this thread, maple back and flame maple top, the electronics are different, (signature), and yes it is a bright sounding bass. But it does warm up nicely, it is really punchy in the low end too and coupled with round wound stainless steel strings, I use it as my main bass for reggae gigs and rehearsals. It surprised me how well such a bright bass could work with reggae and no matter how much bottom end I have on my bass amp, the clarity of the notes is still there. Don't be fooled by all that top end it is a versatile bass. :)

Thanks I like the look. And I've been an Alembic fan but never owned one. I'm looking for some low-mid to low end clear sounds. I'm primarily a worship bassist. My Spector Forte is great for the more up-beat rock type songs. But I'm looking for more clear low end for some of the softer more open traditional type songs. I figured I should be looking for something in mahogany or walnut.
