Here is a Fodera Matt Garrison Imperial MG 5 in excellent condition both cosmetically and playability-wise... It was built in 2001 for me around the same specs as one of Matt's basses with the exception of the top wood. This might be the very first koa-top bass Vinny built, by the way. It has become even more handsome looking over time!
Around 2004 (I am not sure about the date), Joey upgraded the preamp to the version with the mid-freq selector switch. The original ebony fretboard had cracks at one point, so Vinny changed it with a very old ebony fretboard around 2006 or 2007 (again, I am not sure about the dates), and recently the bass had new frets with some of the best fretwork I have seen from Fodera.
The bass has a walnut body with a koa top, maple neck, ebony fingerboard and maple tone block. It has a 33" scale and Fodera / Duncan Dual Coil Pickups. As I do not like dots on fretboards, it has none; yet it has the side dots.
If you would like to hear the tone of the bass, my 2007 release "Clashes" and Serhan Erkol's "Motel ATM" are two of the recordings that I recall at this time (both are on major streaming sites). But please feel free to ask, should you have any further questions...
Why am I selling this? Well, I have two more Fodera's that are more to my specs (MG shape, yet bolt-on with only one pickup and no controls on the bass); and this does not see much playing time anymore.
I prefer "no shipping," so it is for pickup only. I live in Brooklyn, NY, but I am more than happy to meet the buyer anywhere in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens. I would ship this only on the condition that the buyer pays for S&H as well as insurance.
Thanks for looking into this... Best...
