About this bass:
I really wanted to like 5 string basses. I could have that extra range and play more tunes without a bass change. I tried. Can't stand 'em. I was told early on that 5ers get more gigs so I picked one up, and just...never got used to it. But! My loss is your gain! I got this one about 2 months ago, and it's a player. In front of a crowd, nobody will see the blemishes, a few do exist. I tried to capture all the flaws in the finish.. Which really amounts to just a small chip by the jack plate and some light crackling at the tip on the rear of the headstock. The neck pickup knob doesn't stop... You can get it to rotate multiple times if you wanted to, that might be an easy fix tho, I'm not sure. None of the cosmetic stuff effects the playability of the bass however. Bass ships in gig bag, in a box, tuned down a full step.
Sound-wise it really does blow me away. I hate that I hate 5 strings... If this were a 4, I'd never dream of selling it. I recommend listening to some shootouts on YouTube or something because I won't be able to do it justice. It's got a particular quality where the clarity of the note manages to really pop but also maintains the deepness of the bass and the peal of the highs.
It's very well balanced in terms of tone, feel, and weight. Sits comfortably at 10.4 lbs.
I haven't experienced any neck dive and surprisingly, the placement of the strap buttons really makes it a comfortable bass to play. The action is very smooth, fret life is good.
