Details

Hi! I am selling a newly built Wolfbox, Motown sytle direct box, with a vintage Triad transformer with a specification of 8:1 turns ratio and quoted frequency response of 30 Hz to 15,000 kHz. It is not the identical part as an A11J or A12J but has a very similar frequency response, from the same catalog. It is a vintage Triad brand USA transformer from the 1960s. I have built a handful of these and they sound incredible on passive basses, active basses, keyboards, and electric guitars. Standard features are a pin 3 ground lift on the XLR, polarity reversal (phase flip) and a pad (attenuator) that is variable from -20 dB to about -60 dB for very loud sources. If you are interested I can email you some sound samples vs. a Radial J48 direct box. Components are all very high quality and a lot of effort is put into building these well, to last the test of time. There is a non-slip pad on the bottom of the enclosure.

Price is $300 USD via PayPal payment.

You can private message me or reply here, or contact me via email at [email protected]

Here is some customer feedback

Customer A: "Just dropping you a note , we tested the wolf DI , RNDI ,Radial JDI yesterday thru a la Chappell 583 pre with a custom jazz style bass. ThenWolf and RNDI were equally great It would just be a matter of the vibe you were going for in the song . They both smoked the Radial DI not even same league.
They were two bass players and three engineers present all of us were very impressed with the Your Wolf DI very impressed!

Customer B: "I'm a snob when it comes to tone, and your DI is the first one I've ever used that I wouldn't mind using instead of an amp. I sold my Rupert Neve RNDI just a few months ago, and your DI would have destroyed it. Seriously. I may hit you up in the coming months for a second one so I can DI electric bass and electric guitar..!

Here are a few pictures of the direct box, in a lime green sparkle powdercoat finish

Looks like a very cool box!

Fyi, I think you need to set yourself as a commercial user if you'll be selling or promoting your own goods here on TB. I'm not sure of the details but you should check the rules at the top of the forum page.

GLWTS!

Thanks I've been following for a long time but I'm a bit inexperienced with the details of posting a lot on TalkBass. I can't seem to find the links to sales rules. This is sort of a DIY product, not a one off but a small series. If I need to update something or look at different fee scales I will do that but I'm not sure what to do. I'll keep looking around.

EDIT: I read through the Commercial User Policy page but I'm still really not sure if I qualify for that or if I am allowed to post this thread for my direct box. I can add a disclosure that I build pedals and direct boxes if I need to.

EDIT #2: I added a disclosure line to my profile as required. I hope that is sufficient! I am a follower of Talk Bass and a bassist in progress also.

Now I'm not sure if I need to pay $20 instead of $5, and I'm not sure if this post belongs in this Classifieds or in the Sponsor classifieds, or what it means to be a Sponsor. I guess I just jumped right in.

OK this sub-forum states "No Commercial Sales"

So if a moderator can tell me if I am Commercial I will have to remove this post.

I'll probably have to look to other outlets if this is the case.

I’ve added a commercial user banner to your profile. As a commercial user you would only be able to sell products you make through the Bazaar section of our classifieds, which has a different subscription cost. A standard supporting membership is not required to sell there, so if you purchased a supporting membership with the intent of using it to sell items, we may be able to refund your membership fee or put it towards a Bazaar sales license- shoot an email over to our help desk. I’ll need to close this, but I won’t delete it so you can copy the information into a Bazaar thread if you opt to go that route.
