Up for sale is my perfect condition Rickenbacker 4003SW. It weighs in at an even 8 pounds by the bathroom scale. I’ve enjoyed this bass since I bought it new in 2015. I’ve looked it over carefully and there really are no dings or scratches worth mention.
The walnuts have a great, warm, full sound. To me, it has a deeper, more present bottom than the maple winged 4003’s. It also has the maple fretboard that gives it a nice, alert attack. I’ve found this bass to have a broader sonic range than the typical 4003.
The maple fret board has some very nice grain that I attempted to show in the pictures. The bass comes with the original Rickenbacker case which is in very good shape to the point where the Ric logo still has the protective film on it. The case never left my house and only has the most minor of little scuffs. The bridge pickup cover has been removed and a bezel installed. Of course, the original cover is included in the sale. I’ll even reinstall it for you if you’d prefer to have it on. I also swapped the nobs for the ones that are pictured. I'll happily swap those back too at your preference. The bass is currently wearing Rotosound 66 strings. I love the matte finish on these. My other Ric is a C64S and it has the same. It’s a matter of personal choice, but I much prefer these to the gloss finish.
Why would I sell such a beautiful and beloved instrument? It’s an illness, people. I’m selling this to fund the purchase of a 4003AC. The AC is goofy in a compelling and alluring way. The two are similar in that they have the walnut wings and maple fretboard. I need the money to fund the new purchase, and I can’t justify in my head having both.
I’m asking $1,300 delivered CONUS. I’d much prefer a pick up or meet up near the Philly area and would sell it for $1,250 in that case.
