Just bought this brand new Dingwall NG-3 5 string in Laguna Seca Blue. The Dingwall was bought brand new and have played it only a couple hours in my smoke free home only. Comes with the padded Dingwall bag. Plastic is still on the pickguard!

Besides the Dingwall's extended scale and fanned frets, how would you describe the main differences in tone between a Spector and a Dingwall. What are your opinions with the Cons/Pros in regards to this Spector vs Dingwall?

I don't want to speak up before the OP but I thought I'd share my opinion after owning both instruments. The Spector Euro 5 w/ the Tone Pump preamp seems to focus on bass and treble frequencies, where as the Dingwall's Darkglass Tone Capsule really accentuates the mids and high-mids; it even uses a high-mid adjustment knob instead of a traditional treble cut/boost knob. In my opinion the NG series basses cut through a metal mix like a hot knife through butter, but i didn't really find that tone usable in most other genres (just me). The Spector seems to be a better all-around bass for me, and thats why I still have it. It also has one of, if not the best B string I've ever played. The Dingwall had its place in my music for along time before i switched to Spector, but I'd be lying if I said i didn't miss my old NG-2.

The Dingwall is great, it just isnt what I identify as "my sound". The NG3 is arguably more versatile than a Spector, but it unfortunately just isnt perfect for my preference in tone.
