The bridge pickup looks far back but it's actually because of the size of the bridge itself. I thought the same thing too when it was built. It's technically 70's position. The measurement from the bottom of the nut where it meets the fretboard to the center of the poll pieces on the bridge pickup is 31 7/8".

Cool bass! Curious question, you mention "vintage style lollipop tuners". does the bass currently have 'lollipop' tuners but pictured with 'clover' tuners? thanks!
