They've definitely been played a good amount, but they are still holding together well and would likely last a few more months before really going dead. I'd say they'd be good for someone who is just curious to try out this string a bit without having to spend $280 or whatever a new set costs these days.

sadly thats probably a wise choice. With a discontinued string like a golden spiral you can get a few years out of a new one. A velvet is 6 months and you'd need a replacement.
