Details

1975 Fender jazz bass. Not heavy - 9.6 lb on my bathroom scale. Bass plays and sounds great. All components date to 1974, but the neck dates to 6th week of 1975. This was probably one of the last 4 bolt necks made. Bass came to me with all of its original components other than the pickups, tuners, and pick guard. One of our talkbass brethren (thebrian) was parting out a 74 jazz, so I purchased the pickups, pickguard, and tuners from that bass from him. Those are the parts on this bass, so everything is period correct. I currently have a modern wiring harness with an oranedrop tone cap, and a nice old patina'ed Badass Bass II bridge on the bass. The original parts will come with it if you would like to take it back to stock.

The bass was natural originally and some one prior to me stripped off the heavy poly and the bass has a satin feel to it. I left that because it feels great and looks good to me. The neck had been sprayed with some kind of dark poly. It made the blocks kind of dissapear. It really bothered me. I had the neck professionally refinished by a local luthier in Cincinnati and it brought the blocks back to life. The last 2 pictures show the blocks before and after the refinish. The fresh poly finish on the back of the neck didn't feel right to me on this vintage instrument, so I did the green scratch pad thing and smoothed it out. The neck feels nice and broken in, and the logos and blocks are as they should be. As you can see the bass spent most of its life in the Dayton public school system, I believe that is why the frets have life left in them. The bass also has ernie ball straplocks on it. Plays good, sounds good, like a bright 70's ash bass with a badass bridge on it should.

That's the whole story, I'm selling lots of basses to upgrade my Harley and convince myself that I'm not a hoarder.

Priced to move. $1,750 paypal'ed and shipped in the domestic US.

Funny but I owned this bass in one of its earlier iterations. I bought it here on TB and I am glad that someone put the work into getting her back into stellar shape!! Looks like all the work on it was Class A job!! GLWS!!
