Details

This bass is nothing but a piece of art. The feel, the sound, the look, is nothing but Steinway. I took possession of this bass in 2006. Along the way I upgraded the electronics and had Fodera replace the custom matching buckeye burl pickup covers with radiused ebony covers and radiused ramp to match. I still have the burl PUP covers and will include them in this sale. The sound, action and playability of this bass are simply amazing. I am selling it because I find myself strongly favoring my 5 string basses, and this instrument is not being played as it should. The action is as low as it could possibly be, and the neck is so stable I have never had to adjust the truss rod.

Of all places I found a 36" Schack 6 in a Guitar Center. Thing was killer and played like butter. I made the guy get his measuring tape - yup, the full monty. You really can slam on an XX-scale bass that has high playability.

I don't want to turn this into a poetry slam or anything, but could you describe the sense of the note-fundamental that you get in the low end when you go to this scale length? Unleashed in a full range system it must be an amazing sense of power.

Edit ==> Thanks, Dp. I bet it's hell on wheels. Looks like 17.5mm at the bridge - a nice comfort trade-off for the extra effort expended fretting this masterpiece.

As you would expect the B string is very resonant and sounds like the lower strings of a piano. In fact, the whole bass sounds very clear and piano like without losing any girth or punch. You can do a lot with the EQ. I never use it in passive mode, but its there if you want that vibe. While you can certainly dial it in, this bass is not really for the Jaco mid-rangey burpy sound, its just sings way too much. Save that for your Fender jazz bass.
The neck is super thin (ie big radius) so playability is great.
