Details

One of the quietest and best playing early 70s jazz basses. 10lbs. Alder body, maple board. Complete refret recently by Mike Koontz, bone nut, one of the premier luthiers. Also added a Jensen DI. Also has a 1/4". The tone and dynamics of this bass are off the charts. Drop D on it.

It has a Jensen DI built in. Can go right to a board with no external DI needed. This is a high end DI. Great for playing in ear gigs, recording etc. just plug it right in the front of bass.

Has also a 1/4" as a typical input too

The bass is a great gigging and recording bass

This looks like a real 1973 bass as opposed to a relic. That term is usually applied to instruments that are roughed up to mimic the typical wear you might find on a hard-played classic. Unless you're saying that someone intentionally abused a well-preserved '73 to make it look old? Can you confirm that it is an actual '73 and not a re-issue?

Correct, a real 73. Not a reissue. All wear was from being played

Michael Koontz is an exceptional craftsman. He has worked on many of my basses and I've never been disappointed with his work. In fact, he has worked on my 73 P bass.

Mike has an amazing reputation around here, back in Maryland. He and John Thurston made some of the most amazing instruments back in the late 70's, into the 80's. "KT Guitars" was their company. Almost Alembic-like instruments. I met them somewhere around 81 or 82. Mike moved away, but glad to hear that he's still doing luthier work. I believe John is still doing it too. Both are amazing luthiers. I'm sure that Mike did some great work on this bass. I have a 73 Jazz also and love it. GLWTS!

Built in Jensen DI; freaking brilliant!
Can confirm that Duncan SJB-1 will get you back to original tone.
My 72' has stock pups but my 74' had a pup die in the case (and in the 70s') and it has Dimarzio's now.
Both versions of awesome.
