Gibson Thunderbird
Gibson Thunderbird in excellent condition. Looks great, plays great, sounds like a Thunderbird!
As you can see in the pics, it has no dings, dents, or scratches of any consequence.
It has a few upgrades. Most importantly is the Hipshot bridge which replaced the original 3-point Gibson bridge. The Hipshot bridge allows individual string height and intonation adjustments. In my opinion, this is a significant upgrade which makes the bass more playable, and allows a better setup. Of course the original bridge is included in case you ever wanted to return it to original condition.
Another upgrade is the metal pickguard and truss rod cover. The pickguard is aluminum with a Thunderbird cutout. I bought it on eBay from a guy in Germany that makes them. It fit perfectly in the original pickguard screw holes. The truss rod cover I made myself. Its cutout from aluminum and filed and polished to a perfect fit. The logo on the trussrod cover is a Gibson waterslide decal. The pickguard and truss rod cover give it a unique look that always gets comments. And of course, the original Gibson pickguard and truss rod cover are included.
The bass is currently strung with DR Black Beauties which work great on this instrument. I tried various strings, including flatwounds, and finally settled on these for the best tone and feel.
The original Gibson Hard Shell Case is included. It's a real beauty. Barely a mark on it.
Note to Thunderbird fans
I love this bass, and love everything about TBirds. This thing is thunderous, as a TBird should be. Unlike what gets repeated about TBirds, it is in fact very versatile and can produce a wide variety of tones. And it has no neck dive! Its with regret that I'm letting it go. I've been having hand problems and have slowly transitioned completely to short scale basses. My new Gibson Les Paul Tribute Short Scale is my current favorite!
I don't really want to negotiate on the price. They usually go for more than this. I thought about the usual procedure ... mark it up and then negotiate down. But decided that I would instead list it at a fair price and hopefully sell it to someone that loves TBirds.
Its a big bass, even bigger when its in the case. So I'm not sure what shipping will cost. I'll split actual shipping cost with the buyer - no markup on shipping - just the actual cost.
