I am taking a huge financial hit on this bass because 1) I need to supplement my wife not working by unloading some toys, and 2) The bass was damaged when it was shipped to me.
THE “DAMAGE” IS BARELY NOTICEABLE AND THE BASS FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY...
This bass is worth every cent of the $3,300 that the previous owner was asking, if not more. But due to the damage and need to sell you can have it at a greatly reduced price. During shipping both the bottom (near jack) and top of body suffered, most likely, some impact damage (pictures show the two damage areas). At first I thought it was simply cosmetic (It really isn't noticeable unless you know it's there). Then I plugged it in and the bridge pickup kept crackling and shorting out. I took it to a very talented luthier and he discovered a ground connection inside the control cavity was coming loose (from the impact). He went through the entire circuit board and that was the only thing wrong so it was a simple fix. I wanted to have full disclosure for you with this instrument.
* Exhibition grade Saint Martin Red over a gorgeous Black Limba body
* Gorgeous Zebrano fretboard
* Cocobolo headstock
* Delano pickups
* Combe pre amp (huge sound and range)
* 18mm string spacing
* 34" scale
* EXTREMELY comfortable, flame maple neck...like butter
* 55mm at nut / 88mm at 24th fret
* Controls - Bottom row you have bass/mid/treble (boost/cut)
- Top row you have volume and pickup balance
- Switch on left is single coil / dual coil
- Switch on right is active / passive
All the "tone" comments about this instrument are spot on...very organic and woody. Active with dual coils activated shake the walls. Passive is soooo sweet. Warm all the way to very burpy, jazz bass tone on bridge pickup.
