Hi all!
I just acquired a dream bass so I have to put my fretless up on the chopping block to pay for it.
This is a mid 90s prototype headless fretless 6 string. I'm fairly certain its MIJ. It looks a lot like the stuff Sanox was doing at the time (It shares the same custom hardware as the Sanox Leduc Logabasses, in fact), and may have been made by them? From the research I conducted on these around the time I bought it, they were made 6 prototypes, a fretted and fretless version of a 4, a 5, and a 6 string. You can find various pictures of the 4 strings and the 6 string fretted and fretless(this one) online.
APPARENTLY they came from Ross Vallory's (Journey) collection, but I cannot verify this in any way shape or form, so take that how you will. Action is razor blade low, neck is super flat, truss rods work perfectly. When I got it, it had GOTOH pickups in it and a GOTOH preamp that the previous owner put the 9v in backwards and fried the PCB. So I put in a EMG Preamp and later some bartolinis.
Anyway, here's the specs:
Neck:
-Material: 5 Piece, Maple w/ some stringers I can't identify
-Dual truss rods,
-Scale Length: 34"
-Fingerboard: Ebony, 26 "frets", lined
Body:
Material: I think it's mahogany?
Finish: Clear coat
Hardware:
-Bridge: Gotoh 19mm Headless+string locks.
Electronics:
-Pickups: Bartolini G6
-Preamp: EMG BQC
Total Weight: 12.2lbs
There's a couple of dings in the clear which I've documented and some swirling here and there on the finish that'd probably buff out easy, but it's in otherwise great shape.
I'd like 1400$ Shipped CONUS, but am flexible. No Trades. I take PayPal.
Bass will be tremendously well packed, double boxed, and shipped in a gig bag (All the same packaging that safely got my Atelier here from Japan, in fact)
