That is everything I would want from an MTD...but I just ordered 2 G&L basses...the timing on this could not be more heartbreaking! Good luck...I'm surprised this was not snatched up in the first hour.

OK, I'm curious. What does Empresswood sound like? Can you compare it to other tonewoods in sound? I certainly like the weight. Also, Bridge spacing is typical MTD 18mm or 19mm?

Aren't MTDs typically 19? I don't think I've had one that was 18, one of the reasons I've always gravitated to MTDs and not Tobiases. Empresswood seems to be like swamp ash to me, but I'm not that sure. not a real dark tone. But you know how MTD electronics, pretty bright so the passive tone control really helps

I owned a pre Gibson Tobias and it was more like 17mm and 34" scale. MTD's are typically 18mm 35" scale on their 5 and 6 string basses but I have seen 19mm spacing and 34" scale MTD's on occasion. I'll do some research on empresswood and see what gives.

I would have to disagree about the standard string spacing on MTDs, they are typically 19mm. Tobiases on a whole had much different specs. Can someone else verify? I used to see it on his site but still see this literature on a different site.

You can spec any size of bridge from MTD - 19mm, 18mm, 17mm, or even 20mm in the case of Bubby Lewis who like a wide string spacing.

I think the default is 19mm for 5 strings and 18mm for 6 strings.

Hm, you might be right about that. All the MTD's I've played (not that many) were all 18mm and most I've seen for sale were 18mm but that may just be chance. So your bass is 19mm bridge spacing?

19mm for 435 and 535's and 18mm for 635's. You can get any string spacing you want, but you have to tell that to Mike if you are getting one custom built to how you would want it, but if you are going to go with the standard then what's mentioned above is correct.

I was asked about the 'case candy'. Besides paperwork one is a string dampener for the headstock end, and the other is an led light for the luminlay dots. If you shine on them, or get some other light on those dots, they will glow.
