Just picked this up this summer because I have always been interested in Zon basses. And now I get the love for them! Not only is this a great fretless but it also has the best low B of any bass I've ever owned. It hangs well and plays very easily. And the range of tones is one of the secret weapons of this ax.

The string spacing is between 17.5 mm and 18 mm. It has a 34" scale and weighs 9 pounds, 9.2 ounces. It has a graphite neck (no truss rod) with the perfect amount of relief to nail the Zon fretless sound. The body looks to be Cocobolo. Pickups are custom Bartolini and the preamp is an active 3 band Zon ZP-1. It will ship in its original, vintage style, Zon branded hard shell case.

If you were to have Joe Zon build this bass today it would cost in excess of $7K. I agree with the previous owner that the trade value is about half that. In addition, there are some finish cracks on the back (control cavity to bottom) and on the back of the neck (behind "frets" 2-3). See post #9, below.

Trade potential: Fretted 5 string basses under 9 pounds. I prefer 18mm string spacing with a 33" scale. Trade value approximately $3500. Open to cash +/- trades and cash offers.

The Zon is currently strung E-C to fit with my current project.

Previous for sale post - looking quite like this for sale post - is here: TRADED - Zon Legacy Elite Special 5 String Fretless

I'll post more pics this week but it has not changed a bit since I received it except for the strings.

Close-up pics of the finish issues. Because of the gloss, it was hard to photograph these:

* Scuff marks on the bottom of the lower bout
* Finish crack running from the control cover to the bottom of the bass
* Finish crack on the back of the neck. I cannot feel this at all when playing.

Can anyone confirm that rounds won’t eat these fingerboards for a fact, please?
I have a 6 string and I’m afraid to play it because the fingerboard is perfect. Thank you in advance and yes, these are amazing Basses
