I've owned a lot of (way too many) basses, including three by Stephen Sukop. This is the one I've held onto, as it's by far the best Sukop bass I've played or heard, and they are all good. If you want to read what other TBers have had to say about Sukop basses:
Sukop Bass Guitars? Anyone to swear by them?

I've tried to demonstrate some of instrument’s tones and versatility with a couple of sound samples I recorded last night... yes, I could’ve cut the mids on that slap sound and included other variations on these tones, but didn’t. Obviously, if you want to have a sense of what the bass sounds like, please don’t play this through your cell phone speakers:

According to my bathroom scale, it weighs in at 10.5 pounds. This bass has a few dings and wear, nothing major, which I’ve tried to show in the photos. The neck is straight and playability is great. In terms of tone, I've never played a fretted six I've liked as much, except for a particular Fodera AJ Contrabass which cost over $10K more than the Sukop and was a 36” scale. I currently own two Foderas, a Ken Lawrence, and F Bass AC5. This Sukop is absolutely in the same league as the best of my gear, just doesn't have the same brand recognition (and is quite undervalued, I think). So, you get a top-shelf instrument, equivalent to one that’d cost several times what this one will go for. It is my opinion that you won't find a better value or a more versatile modern instrument. This one's truly a keeper. I thought I’d never let it go, only I’m moving away from six strings and from the longer scale, so have decided to string up my 34” Fodera Emperor 5 E-C and pass this on to another player.

Comes with quality non-original lightweight rigid EPS foam case.

I’m looking to sell, since I really have too many basses, but would consider trading for the right bass because I’m an incurable bass addict. It’d have to be a high-end 33”-34” scale fiver. Fretted or fretless.

I'm pretty new to talk bass and only have a couple positive reviews here, but have lots of positive reviews on eBay, and some on Reverb com. Private message me if you want links to my accounts on those other websites, or if you want any other info. Thanks for looking.

Thank you, that's very kind. I'd love a 5 that was 33 to 34 in, uncommonly low action, and wooly textured tone from the bridge PU, without being too heavy.... It gets hard to say, because I've heard a squire that sounded like $10,000 and a Fodera that sounded like $10. So, I'm not so worried about brand.

How's that for a convoluted answer?

These are fantastic basses, i have owned three. Traded all three because other bass players really wanted them, silly me.:smug:
The wenge Fingerboard really makes this bass sing.
