1977 Rickenbacker 4002 Mapleglo | Overview
I have owned this one since 2008. The 4002 is the rarest model of Rickenbacker produced, less than 100 are said to have been made.*
This 1977 is one of the earliest of the production run and the cleanest example I have ever seen.

This 1977 is one of the earliest of the production run and the cleanest example I have ever seen.
Details of this model:
- Body made of Birdseye and Curly Maple.
- Deluxe block binding. Laminated custom pickguard.
- Laminated fully bound Maple neck and head.
- Imported Ebony fingerboard with pearl style inlays.
- 21 frets on a 33 1/2 inch scale.
- Two super high gain humbucking pickups.
- Individual tone and volume controls for each pickup. Separate Rick-O-Sound stereo and mono output jack.
- Special low impedance output jack for direct connection with recording studio control board.
- The body is in superb condition with very slight and minor 'worming' on the back a small impression of two on the front. I would easily rate it a conservative 9/10.
- All electronics are original and fully functional.
- All parts are original, save for the nut and frets, having been re-fretted by known Rickenbacker Luthier, Larry Davis. The work was done as close to factory spec as possible, as evidenced in the side-by-side pictures of this bass and a Walnut 4002 with original frets and nut.
- Bass is currently strung-up with TI Jazz Flats and has remained largely unplayed since re-fretting.
- Case is original and also in excellent shape for its age.
