It has a (sort of hidden) switch that allows the thru to be either parallel or buffered.

The switch is in the little hole on the side.

I attached the manual, see page 6.

This block diagram is from page 9. You can see how the signal path varies from direct (parallel) to buffered.

FYI this is a stupid good price, but I don't really need two :bored:.
