Details

This is a Fender Precision Bass Plus Deluxe that was made at the Fender Custom shop. When I purchased the bass it did not have any paper work or information on it. There is no serial number to be found on the bass, which i am guessing is because it went through the Custom Shop and usually is on a certificate. However, there was what I believe to be a serial number written on the back of the headstock, as pictured. I have since removed the number, but obviously took a photo before removing. It looks like it is N258002 with a 9 or some kind of other symbol between the N and 9. A N9 start could mean 90', but wouldn't make sense since the neck is stamped 91'. My best guess is that they added the 9 before the 2 to signify 92' , but that is just my guess. i did reach out to Fender and they did verify the Custom Shop builders Murill and Montes. The body is in excellent condition with no major dings or scratches. The neck has some wear and marks as can be seen in the phots, but does not interfere with play. They have the original Lace Sensor Pickups with the Kubicki active preamp that are all in working condition. This bass sounds and looks great! Will ship with a non-original case. Please don't hesitate if you have any questions or would like some other pictures. Price is $700 + $50 for shipping to the lower 48.

Thanks for the great questions, here you go.
neck width at nut? 1 5/8"
body ash or alder? I am not 100%, but judging by the tighter grain of the neck pocket, I would say alder
what do the knobs do? Front controls: Top-Volume, Bottom-Pickup select/blend
Back Controls are tone: Top-Treble, Bottom-Bass
weight? 8.7lbs

Altitude

An ounce of perception, a pound of obscure.

That is really cool. I bet that was someone's prized gigger for years. I dig it but I predict Ryan is going to buy it.

I have one of these in black. Mine didn’t come thru the custom shop, but it’s a great bass!

beautiful. I have a Jazz Boner Bass of the same era. I bought it new in 1992. Exact same Midnight Blue color, same tuners, and also stamped by Murill. So tempted!

I’m sure everything you wrote is true. One thing I don’t understand is the truss rod on headstock. I’ve only seen those with the opening hole on Mexican headstocks. Then again this being a Custom Shop it must be the way they made the necks ,and headstock - trussrod which is much different than the standard production model P bass, at least on older Fender P basses which is just the skunk strip solid ( no indentation ) on headstock. Regardless your price is low, I’m sure it will sell fast. Good luck with it.
Best,
Jake

Thanks! I believe all the "plus" models of the early 90's all had the truss rod at the headstock. The precision plus "boner bass" and the jazz bass plus I have also have the headstock truss rod.
