Jake Goede worked as Birdsong's head luthier for a long time, and also built under his own name, JG Guitarworks. This guitar was created to celebrate his 1st Anniversary in 2009.
Jake isn't as active as he used to be, and these are quite rare.
It was in Scott Beckwith's (Birdsong) possession since new, and I bought it direct from him a couple years ago. I currently have 4 of Jake's guitars, and I can tell you, nothing "factory" or "production" even COMES CLOSE to the amount of time and attention put into these.
Every time I would take this one, or another of his out of the house, someone would come up and ask me what it was. I have way to many, and it's time to thin the heard a bit.
It's a set neck guitar that's a mix of what I believe to be Walnut and Mahogany with a Zebrawood top. It has a 5 piece laminated neck with an amazing ebony fingerboard, and ebony (I think) headstock face. Jake's signature is laser engraved into the back, along with the serial number, and "JG" logo inlaid in abalone. The pickups are handmade as well, and are wired to coil split, however the switch is a little dirty and needs to be cleaned. It's heavy, probably around 10 pounds, and definitely (to me) has sort of an "Alembic" vibe to it. Comes with a TKL hardshell case in great shape.
Paypal is ok, trade offers are ok. I talk to Jake every once in awhile, so if you want to know anything specific, I can ask him or find out for you.
Trade wise....I like Birdsong and other short scale basses, Telecasters, tube bass amps, mics and 500 series stuff......try me if you want, worst I can say is no. I'll save you the time however, I'm not into "Fender style" basses, or most other long scale basses.
