I'm curious, what is it about tapes you don't like?
I'm shopping around for some short scale strings for an SG,
and I considered tapes but have never tried them.
I'm really looking for some rounds of some kind...057912

I find the tape wounds clicky and plastic like. Maybe I just haven’t found their place yet.

I've only spent a little bit of time with one set and it probably wasn't a very nice set, but they feel like toy strings to me. I only really wanted that thump you get from a P-bass with flats last time I was messing with them though. I'm sure they're fine for applications, but I didn't love the way they felt and the sound wasn't what I was going for and I never really looked back.
