Selling my 1998 Fodera Imperial 6 string bass. Recently bought this from a friend, but a) the spacing is too wide for me and b)shouldn't' have spent the money!
Many consider this to be a golden age of Fodera basses, and I can absolutely understand why. One of the very best basses that I have ever had the pleasure to hear and play.
Original Fodera spec'd Bartolini pickups
First generation 3 band Pope preamp
Mahogany body wings
Looks to be an alder center block
Quilted maple top
Maple neck through
Ebony fingerboard
34" scale
19mm bridge string spacing
11lbs
Single truss rod
Fodera bridge
Dunlop inlaid straplocks
Non original specs:
-This bass has Hipshot ultralight tuners installed.
-At some point in it's life someone put a coat of amber over the original finish. No idea when that was done in it's lifespan, but it looks great, other than they ambered over the headstock butterfly and the side dots from the 12th fret up. See pics.
Frets are in great condition. Electronics all work as they should.
comes with the original teardrop case, but the side handle was replaced at some point. It's a nice and sturdy handle.
This is truly one of the best basses I've heard or played. I really do understand the Fodera allure. What a fabulous instrument. I happen to prefer these early Bartolini pickups, and I'm floored by their sound. For my taste this has the best bridge pickup that I've ever heard. Just stunning. I'd say this is in excellent player's condition. Some marks here and there, as shown in the photos.
Absolutely no trades, please.
The price is $9250 shipped and insured.
Do let me know if you have any questions, and thank you so much for having a look!
