For sale Ampeg AEB # 888.. $4000.00. I purchased this bass some years ago in very sad, nearly unplayable condition. It was sent to Master Luthier and Scroll Bass Guru Bruce Johnson in Fillmore, CA. For a full restoration..This Bass was transformed into the breathtaking example which I now offer for purchase. All original parts were checked and refurbed where necessary including the “mystery pickup” and multi layer engravers stock pickguard. More than just a work of art, this is a beautifully playing Ampeg which elicits incredible response when seen and heard. Those lucky enough to have played one know that there is truly no other bass like an Ampeg AEB or AUB. The pics do not do this guitar justice. It presents worlds better in person. # 888 will ship in HSC but I would prefer pickup or delivery in person. I will gladly work with the purchaser on this issue. Otherwise I will split shipping with the new owner.. All restoration documentation and a CD of progress pics will be included.

Coolio!:woot: I remember the guy from the Four Seasons playing one on the Ed Sullivan show. I didn’t realize that they had Dr. Strange on organ!:roflmao:

I saw him play that bass on a club date the Seasons played in ‘68. I never forgot that cool thing. The other odd thing I never understood was why a nationally prominent act was playing in an obscure 70 seat dump in upstate NY. They had multiple gold albums, a string of hits, big venues, etc. Only years later when I saw Jersey Boys on Broadway did I learn the band had spent more than a year playing literally every available booking anywhere to generate quick cash to bail one of the original band members out of debt to the mob. Loyalty is strong among Jersey kids and I got a rare chance to see some big-timers two tables back from the stage.
Also, BTW “Dr Strange” on the organ was Bob Gaudio, who co-wrote all their hits w Franky Valli. He and Valli still co-own all rights to the music and brand, based solely on a verbal agreement.

And the Time Stone. They also own the Time Stone.

Seriously, that's interesting that he's Bob Gaudio.:woot: He's a very accomplished musician on all kinds of levels: player, songwriter, arranger, producer, etc. Outside of the Four Seasons stuff, I've run into him because he became quite a force in music theatre in later years (not just "Jersey Boys" which he was not surprisingly behind) but quite a lot of other activity. I've always thought that "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)" that he co-wrote was a great song driven by a strong bassline—and then Frankie Valli comes in. Great stuff.
