Details

Up for grabs is this 2012 Squier Matt Freeman signature Precision Bass in Vintage White, Crafted in China along with the reputable Squier Classic Vibe and Fender Modern Player series. This model is said to be based off of Matt Freeman’s 1977 Precision Bass and boasts one of the best necks Squier (and to some, Fender) have put out.

Quick spec rundown:
- basswood body
- maple neck with tint and gloss finish
- hi-mass bridge with brass saddles
- 9.5” fretboard radius
- 1.608” nut width *specs on the internet say it’s 1.650” but I measured it with my caliper and it’s actually closer to 1.600”*
- has DR Fat-Beams 45-105 currently
- 9.4 lbs on my bathroom scale

I did my best to showcase the few blemishes that it has. The circular scuffs on the pickguard (from bubblewrap) can be removed, as well as the sticky residue on the back. Please examine photos. I can send more upon request.

I am the second owner, the first owner is a guitar player that barely played this thing and just sat in his home office for the most part.

Only trade for consideration is a Yamaha BB734A or BB735A (5-string version is best).

Looks nice!

No disrespect, but what is special about this model to price it $300+ over the price of a brand new Squire Classic vibe?

GLWTS
These basses were made in China and the quality was up there with Fender MIM’s and in most cases better, the necks were awesome, Fender discontinued them because they were out selling the Fenders of the same era, they were underpriced for what they were I think Fender realized this..Everything bass has gone up in price since the pandemic just look at prices on Reverb and on the online big stores new and used...

Alembics and parametric mid knobs scare me.

Thank you.
Yes what @Kukulkan61 said. There’s been a trend on Reverb of old 90s Mexican Standards going for well above $600 so I thought why not get a piece of that action with an instrument that I’m certain is better than those old MIMs?

To be honest I’m not keen on selling this but I always end up playing favorites so I almost always use one bass at a time (months at a time) and right now my Player Jazz is getting all the love.

I also have one of these and I’ve owned many Fenders. I know it’s Squier made but honestly speaking this is a Fender. The neck on this is fantastic. My main player is a Sandberg and being honest here I like this neck just as much. The P punch is fully there. I don’t know what these are worth but I do know they are hard to come by because people usually hang onto them. GLWTS!

Thanks Big Red! My exact sentiments. This reminds me of my Road Worn 50’s P in terms of neck profile (minus the 1.75” nut width on that and the nitro lacquer, of course).
It also has a “worn-in” vibe to it without being a factory relic.
